For the worker successfully apply for a Tier 1 visa, the worker needs to meet a certain point threshold. Failure to do so will mean that the application will be refused. In order to pass the set requirements, the worker needs to score at least 75 points. The 75 points will include 10 points for English language and another 10 points for maintaining funds. The main bulk of the score can be found on the attributes, which accounts the total 75 points. Attributes include the worker’s age, qualification, previous earnings and United Kingdom experience.

For the age attribute, the worker can gain between 5 to 20 points. For qualifications, the worker can score between 30 to 50, on previous earnings a person can register between 5 and 45 points and experience can fully give the worker 5 points. The qualifications will refer to the educational attainment of the person.

For example, a PhD holder will get 50 points, the Masters Degree holder will get 35 points and a Bachelor’s degree holder will get 30 points. The Master in Business Administration is not a separate category under this kind of system so a person cannot rely on his MBA qualification. Age is a significant factor as well and if you are under 28 years old, then the worker can net 20 points. If he is aged 28 or 29, then that person can earn 10 points. Five points are reserved for those aged 30 or 31 years old. English proficiency and funds will score 10 points each.
